The Farm Animals

Ali

Ali joined the Quaker Valley crew in June of 2021. She was adopted from a rescue out of Alabama, hence the name “Ali”. Ali’s favorite farm activities are hopping after grasshoppers, running the orchard rows at top speed, and snacking on Asian pears. Ali and Maggie help supervise practically everything on the farm.

Spook

Spook joined the Quaker Valley crew in October of 2013. She was found by Bethany and Samatha while they were waiting for the school bus to come! Spook loves lounging on the front porch and napping in a sunny spot.

Maggie

Maggie joined the Quaker Valley crew in May of 2022. She was given to us by a market customer who knew that Maggie would enjoy life much more on the farm. Maggie’s favorite farm activities are swimming in the pond, rolling in the mud (of course a white dog would), and hanging out with her best friend, Ali.

Summer

Summer joined the Quaker Valley crew in August of 2015. She was found down the road by Winn and they instantly bonded. Summer lives outside in our barn and loves to chase birds!

Stuffing

Stuffing joined the Quaker Valley crew on Thanksgiving 2021. She was found in the back orchard of the farm as a kitten with her siblings, Butterball and Gravy. Stuffing loves chasing birds and napping in the sun.

JC’s Ladies

Our chickens joined the Quaker Valley crew in spring of 2021 and 2022. The “ladies”, as they are affectionately referred to, spend their summer foraging on grass in their mobile coop and winter in our high tunnel. Samatha named all of the birds: the Rhode Island Red Hybrids (brown) are named Martha, the Buff Orpingtons (gold) are named Greta, and the Barred Plymouth Rocks (black and white) are Susan. Their favorite snack is watermelon!
